Born and raised in Southern California, Van Wolslagel was an avid surfer and worked a variety of odd jobs growing up. At 20 years old, he decided to take a semester off of college for a surf trip in Hawaii.
Eric Schultz was born and raised in Sutter Creek, CA, a small town of about 2,000 people. He decided to join the United States Navy straight out of high school, at the age of 18.

Dean Lindstrom joined the Army Reserve at 18 years old after finishing his first semester of college. Dean’s father and grandfather had both been in the United States Navy, and Dean participated in the JROTC in high school.
Joseph “Mac” MacKay Spears was raised in a proud military family. This sparked in him an early interest in wanting to join the military and jump out of airplanes. In 1956, he graduated from VMI (Virginia Military Institute).
